So what is the difference between a system and a process? 🤷♂️
A process is a they way you carry out a particular activity within your business like what do you say when you answer the phone, whereas a system is group or combination of processes that are put together to achieve a result, so once you’ve answered the phone, what information is collected, how is it stored, what happens to the information once you have it, who is the enquiry passed to. 🏭
Think of it like cogs in a machine, where the machine takes a mixture of raw goods in and spits the finished product out at the other end. ⚙️ ⚙️
The machine is the system, the cogs and moving parts within the machine are the processes and the finished product is the result you are looking to achieve. 🚀
Remove one of the cogs, and the whole system breaks down. 🛠
As you scale your business, you need to bring in new employees. Sometimes to add to an existing team within the business and sometimes to create a whole new department. 👩🏽💻 👨🏽🏭
Wherever these new employees fit into your organisation, it is important that they do exactly what you need them to do in order to keep everything running smoothly. 📊 🗃
Great systems and processes will do this and they also will make it easy to identify if an individual within your business is not performing or a particular process is no longer fit for purpose. 🤦🏼♂️
As you grow, both your people and processes need to develop too. 👨🎓 👩🎓
Whether you’re looking to grow and continue working in your business, or grow and sell your business. Good processes and systems are crucial to maximising profit and therefore business value. 💷 💷
Regularly reviewing systems and processes will identify and bottle necks in your workflows and will allow you to adapt them to suit the needs of your growing business. 🏙
That’s it for todays business bite.
