Firstly, you need good self-discipline. πΌ
It’s OK to let your mind wander and find yourself off track from time to time. You are only human. π
But to be successful in business, you need to have good enough self-awareness to catch yourself when this happens and bring yourself back to the task at hand as quickly as possible. π
Secondly, you need a written plan. π
For your daily and weekly tasks, you need a diary that allows you to schedule your time in ½ hour slots. π
Some people like to do this electronically and keep everything on their devicesπ», whilst others like good old-fashioned pen and paper. π
The key though, is consistency. π
There is no right or wrong when it comes to which method you prefer. π€·βοΈ
All you have to do, is do it consistently. π
I schedule an hour every Friday afternoon, to plan for my next week. π
During this hour, I review what I have completed this week, what I haven’t managed to complete this week, and I plan for the following week. β³
I break every task down into ½ hour slots and schedule the appropriate time out in my diary for the following week. π
There are tasks I do at the same time, every single day, because that works for me and I know what time of day is usually best for me to complete certain types of work. π₯±π΅
Mornings are the best time for me to get the ‘thinking’ work done π. Because by the afternoon, my mind tends to wonder. You might find that, the afternoon or evening π is the best time for you to focus and that’s OKAY! βοΈ
We are all different. π«π½
Getting my time under control has been the key to my success, as I now get more done, in less time! πͺ
It took a couple of months to get it right, and yes, I did slip up a few times and not plan my next week properly and the result was poor productivity and longer days. π΄
That’s it for today’s business bite.
If you would like a copy my ‘Power Diary’ template to try this for yourself. Give me a shout or pop a comment below. π
Good luck and remember, It’s OK to slip up, just don’t let it become a habit. π
